MOTOR MAKING
The first aspect of Research Rocketry is the making of Rocket Motors. This carries a mystic of science that traps many people. It is not for the poor and dumb nor is it for the wealthy and intelligent. Neither is it for the confident and curious. Making Rocket Motors is something to be taken extremely serious with a dedicated point of view and direction. Nothing is to be taken for granted. If conducted properly it is very expensive. If conducted as a means to save money it is dangerous. In any and all cases Making Motors is both expensive and dangerous. This section will present all aspects of the Motor Making process. Please read the SAFETY page and become familiar with it. Sadly it can never present enough and one must become their own Safety Code and live by it. Sources for SOFTWARE useful in the process are provided. Many are relatively easy to use and some will be out of most peoples understanding, but with persistence it will all begin to make sense. Don't think because you know it you are safe! Required EQUIPMENT is presented. Start the cash register running. Your investment in equipment will probably total way more than your desired savings over using Commercial Motors - the rest of your rocketry life! CHEMICALS, step two in throwing your dollars away. It will never seem like you ever have enough and while little is used per motor (not counting the big honkers) you'll wonder where it all goes (up in smoke). While you must be safe working with your equipment, working with Chemicals, even just storing them, carries consequences that must be addressed at all times. Remember one mistake is too late. MIXING is were life gets interesting - so does the danger. Be attentive and follow formulas exactly. Never assume anything. And most important: practice SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY.
